Preserve Marbletown Mission Statement

We are a group of concerned citizens who oppose the Marbletown Green development, which plans for the construction of a high-density, mixed-zoned development on land presently home to the Stone Ridge Orchard. The proposed development, involving hundreds of closely-packed housing units, would harm our community in profound ways. It would create fundamental problems for our infrastructure, including (1) causing extreme traffic congestion, and noise, light and air pollution; (2) creating untold demand for water and waste disposal; and (3) placing severe strain on our emergency services and educational system.

The proposed housing project would not only bring an end to the orchard itself - a treasured, 200 year-old vestige of our local heritage - but would also jeopardize the rural character of Marbletown that gives the town its scenic beauty and other unique qualities. To permit the construction of such a development also would facilitate and encourage other similar developments to be imposed on our community.

We want to preserve Marbletown, and our mission is to take all necessary steps to prevent the Marbletown Green development from happening in our town.
