Preserve Marbletown Before Its Too Late
- It is now becoming clear that, despite their buzzwords like green
energy and zero carbon, the developers of the Marbletown
Green are planning to demolish the Stone Ridge Orchard and
construct a real estate project of up to 450 closely-packed
housing units unthinkable density for a rural community.
- Such a development would create extreme traffic congestion by
potentially adding close to 1000 more vehicles; raise fundamental
problems concerning waste disposal, noise, light and air pollution
and diversion of scarce water resources; stress to the breaking
point our emergency medical, fire protection, law enforcement
and other essential services; place additional strains on our
educational system; raise property taxes; and radically alter the
rural character of Marbletown.
- While this massive development will certainly enrich the developers
and their investors, it will have little, if any, benefit for our town.
But it can only be built if our town officials grant the developers a
major zoning change, which we must urge them not to do.
- If you oppose this proposed housing project, please contact the
Marbletown Town Board, Marbletown Planning Board,
and Marbletown Zoning Board of Appeals, Town Hall,
PO Box 217, Stone Ridge, New York 12484 and urge them to
preserve Marbletown.
